270770 - THE DAMBUSTER LANCASTER: The Avro Lancaster Type 464 (Provisioning) In Detail - Wingleader Modeller's Special
By Peter Allam and Piotr Forkasiewicz

Wingleader are delighted to announce the launch of ‘The Dambuster Lancaster’ a Wingleader Modeller’s special, which is set to become one of the most sought after books in aviation modelling.
After we sold out of Wingleader’s Dambuster Lancaster hardback book a few years ago, we were swamped with enquiries about when a reprint was planned. We discussed it with Piotr Forkasiewicz and Mark Postlethwaite, the book’s authors, and they felt that there were certain aspects of the book that could be updated and maybe refocused on the modelling side, especially now there were two 1/32 scale model kits on the market.
So we decided to commission a new ‘Dambuster Lancaster’ book, but this time entirely aimed at the modelling community. We invited Bomber Command expert Peter Allam to co-author it with Piotr and set them to work. It soon became apparent that Piotr’s 3D model needed a lot of updating to include new information about the standard Lancaster interior, (the old model had focused almost entirely on the Type 464 mods).
The planned three month schedule soon slipped and Piotr eventually found himself rebuilding many parts of his incredible 3D model from scratch, taking over 12 months in total.
The final result is breathtaking. Piotr’s Type 464 3D model is now, without doubt, the most accurate representation of a ‘Dambuster Lancaster’ anywhere in the world.
In this new book we have rendered dozens of high-res views of the model, both inside and out, to give the modeller a comprehensive understanding of how to accurately represent a Type 464 Lancaster. We’ve also gone further back into the fuselage to include the rest-bed and the rarely seen or featured armoured bulkhead doors.
Accompanying the images and period photos are extended captions in which author Peter Allam explains all the kit and modifications that are visible to the reader. He also answers many common modeller’s questions about equipment and paint schemes along the way.
All in all, this is an exceptional book that will answer all questions about the ‘Dambuster Lancaster’ and will be an essential guide for anybody who is making a model of the Type 464.
